Many people believe that television violence has a negative effect on society because it promotes violence. The effect of television violence on society has been clearly studied and vigorously debated. Among the scientific and public health communities, viewing violence poses a harmful risk to children/teenagers. Researchers claim that exposure to television violence leads to real-life aggression. Nearly two out of three television programs may contain some violence, avergaing about six violent acts per hour. Fewer than five percent of these programs featured on anti-violence theme or consequences of violence. Violence was found to be more prevalent in children's programming about sixty-nine percent than in other types of programming about fifty-seven percent. Violence can lead children/teenagers into brutal behavior. Teenagers may become numb to violence not just due to the huge volume of violent content being shown on television, but also because of the forms that the descriptions of violence often take. Children's cartoons exaggerate violence, but also teenagers have a form of violence of the "reality shows". Graphic descriptions of brutal violence are common in television programming. By the time a teenager, sees outright violence on television, we may have become accustomed to violence and no longer are shocked by such content. I said we because I am also a teenager not going through television violence, but just a teen. Television violence can make easy transition in the teenager from the fiction of a television program to the factual circumstances of our lives. Television violence may have an even more dramatic effect on us teenagers who already have emotional problems and have demonstrated aggressive behavior in the past. Also, television violence can bring up people risking their lives in content that is dangerous.Violence takes away a teenager the good way to become an educated individual. Some other effects of television violence are its a sort of addiction for the impressionable teenager, and the time that this television viewing occupies takes away from the time that the teenager would most likely be used to study, read, or enrich our lives. A common perception among most people today is that urban teenagers are all violent thugs with no moral compass. Violence occurs overall because of the large violence numbers of drug addicts, homeless individuals, and poor, all of whom may turn to violent crime to gain the money they need for theit addictions or their families. In conclusion, nit has been shown that television can have negative influence on teenagers mostly. This is why I agree with many people about television violence has a negative effect on society(children/teenagers).
